And how funny is this....

Kingfisher proclaimed on its Facebook page and its website that it was giving away all inclusive return tickets at INR 17935. Check the picture and the facebook link below:

Now within minutes of their posting I tried to search for BOM-SIN-BOM availability for the special fare. And with any combination of dates the search result gave me the minimum fare as INR 21925, a difference of INR 3990 (enough to get you from BOM to DEL). So then I posted it on their facebook wall and asked if there was any promo code which they had forgotten to mention to book the INR 17935 fare. Now look at their reply:

Indeed customer service and marketing needs to go a long way for the Indian cariers...

Singapore Airshow in Feb...

In case you have not heard it till now the Singapore Airshow is back this February from 14th till 19th. It is the largest air show in this part of the world and is worth a visit in case you are in Singapore. The exhibitors include all the big names of Aerospace and Defense companies highlighting their new developments. I am sure this one will have the Boeing 787 on view since it is the newest of the products out of the Boeing factory. It would be good to get up close and personal with the 787 Dreamliner.

The show is open to public on the 18th and the 19th of Feb. As per their website scheduled shuttle bus service will operate from Changi Airport during the days of the show. Tickets are available on www.sistic.com.sg

The official website of the show is http://www.singaporeairshow.com/. It is worth a visit to see the who is who in the exhibitor's list. To make it more happening the Air show is giving away free tickets on its Facebook webpage in the form of a contest which lets you dedicate songs to your friends. In case you get luck you can get a ticket to the show or a helicopter simulator ride. The facebook page is http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/pages/Official-Singapore-Airshow

All about crosswind landings....

Airline makers all over the world specifically the two big ones Boeing and Airbus invest a lot of money in making technologies that help land planes safely on the runway. There are techniques like these which are called crosswind landings used in stormy conditions with strong wind. When direct approach becomes impossible pilots try cross-wind techniques. On touch down the thrust reversers and the wheels ensure that the plane aligns itself to the centre line of the runway. In this video taken from the edge of Dusseldorf airport runway you can see planes landing in strong cross winds. Even the big ones are hard to land but with the skillful pilots these airlines have it is an awesome video to watch and appreciate the strength of these machines and skillful pilots fighting out the adversities of nature.

Flying over the moon....

Seen from East Coast Park in Singapore the Singapore Airlines big bird A380 coming into land over the moon on a clear sky. The A380 is coming into land at Changi Airport 02L runway.

Taking off....

As we push back, the air traffic control has given clearance for take-off of this blog. Airborneflyinghigh runway 36 cleared for take off, fly heading 270 is what the instruction says. So we align with the runway and I push the throttle up to full power as we get the nose up on this blog and can see the horizon infront of us. Its beautiful up here. I am here up in the air.....
